Raritan River Art Walk is a unique curatorial project established by Albus Cavus and the City of New Brunswick, New Jersey to feature murals and large-scale works of contemporary visual artists in outdoor settings along the picturesque Raritan River.

Albus Cavus received permission from the New Jersey Department of Transportation and the City of New Brunswick to transform a currently underutilized 1.8 mile long bicycle path into an outdoor public gallery. One side of the path is enclosed by a concrete wall with a height varying from 5 to 25 feet. The other side of the path is open to a beautiful river environment. The path connects two major parks in the city and is easily accessible to pedestrians, bicycles, strollers, and wheelchairs. Art Walk is located within a short walking distance from New Brunswick Downtown, the Theater District, and Rutgers University.

The area of the wall is estimated to support about 500-600 murals. There is space designated for use by local schools and after-school programs. Their educational curricula include a series of workshops led by artists experienced in varying techniques, mural painting, and outdoor installation.

Despite the beautiful views of the river, this bicycle path has seen limited use and has gained little notoriety in our community. Therefore, when Albus Cavus announced its plans for the Art Walk, the Mayor's Office, Rutgers University, and local schools quickly became partners in this project. These partners recognize the value of this project in terms of curating original and one-of-a-kind art exhibits, bringing an art audience to New Brunswick and reclaiming the path in beautiful surroundings for use by local children and community members.
